Adshare.com Review |
Book Description Scott Adams "is a VERY tough act to follow." --Suzanne Tobin, Washington Post In the tradition of The Complete Far Side and The Complete Calvin and Hobbes, Dilbert 2.0 celebrates the 20th anniversary of Scott Adams's Dilbert, the touchstone of office humor. This special slipcased collection--weighing in at more than ten pounds with 600 pages and featuring almost 4,000 strips--takes readers behind the scenes and into the early days of Scott Adams's life pre-Dilbert and on to the success that followed when Dilbert became an internationally syndicated sensation. Divided into five different epochs, Dilbert 2.0 gives readers a glance at some of Adams's earliest strips, like those created for Playboy, and a peek at an abundance of special content ranging from numerous rejection letters to Adams's first cartooning check, and more. Adams personally selected the material for this collection and offers original comments and humorous asides throughout. Also included is a piracy-protected disc that contains every Dilbert comic strip to date and that can be updated as new cartoons are released.

Everything I had expected, and more! |
|
As a huge Dilbert fan, I got Dilbert 2.0 for Christmas after persistent hinting. The book quality is great. As noted by others, it is quite large and heavy, but I have no problem reading it in bed. Scott's comments are at times informative and at others hillarious. Any true Dilbert fan will absolutely adore this book. I haven't even put the CD in my computer yet, but am looking forward to even more cubicle fun! |

Great! |
|
This is a great anthology of all the Dilbert cartoons. I especially liked the early ideas and the stories of what Scott Adams had to do to get published. Seeing the evolution of the characters all in one place was fascinating. It is beautifully packaged with a slip case. Beware, though, it is very heavy! |

Great book, must have for all Dilbert fans |
If you read this, you certainly are a Dilbert fan, so you must have this book. It is very well manufactured, and the strip selection / Scott Adams' commentaries will please you, it is really worth the price.
Even if weight was announced, I was a bit surprised, it is definitely not the kind of book you read in bed.
The only minor disappointment was the DVD, the pictures are the same as on dilbert.com, higher resolution would have been welcome.

Not the collection I was hoping for |
While I've loved Dilbert for years, I'm generally disappointed in this collection. While it was modeled after the excellent Far Side and Calvin & Hobbes complete collections, Dilbert 2.0: 20 Years of Dilbert is not a complete dead-tree edition by any means. Note the description: "Adams personally selected..."
Entire weeks of strips are excluded from the pages, and storylines are often missing strips, making them harder to follow and leaving out punchlines. The missing strips detract greatly from the collection.
I simply don't see why Dilbert 2.0 wasn't done as a two-volume collection with every strip for $150. |

Five stars |
|
A must-have for all Dilbert fans. Much as been said about the sheer weight of this book- with a bit of practice, I have found I can easily balance it on my chest when I read in bed at night. Five stars, two thumbs up, whatever you like- if you're a fan, you'll love it. |
